Here are a just few suggestions for how you can help give the communities we work with a hand up, rather than a hand out.

Fundraising

Why not make BWAUK your Charity of the Year? It is a wonderful way to support all our community initiatives in Africa and it is the perfect way to encourage colleagues to get involved with something that is highly rewarding and worthwhile.

Match Giving

Some companies decide to make a pledge to match their employees’ donations. This has shown to increase staff loyalty and productivity, as it gives them a real sense of camaraderie, team spirit and pride in their employer. Company funds used towards match giving can be written off against corporation tax.

Team Building Challenge

From trekking up Ben Nevis or Mount Kilimanjaro, to cycling across the Serengeti or from London to Paris, there are an endless number of adventure challenges available. Once-in-a-lifetime charity events and challenges like these are an excellent way to encourage team building and positive competition amongst co-workers. This really does enhance internal communications and allows staff to fulfil personal goals all while raising money for Bread and Water for Africa UK.

Payroll Giving

By allowing you to make donations straight from your pay packet or company pension, this is one of the most cost effective methods of charitable giving. Donations are made before income tax is applied; therefore you only pay tax on what’s left, and receive immediate tax relief on your top rate.

Setting up a scheme is quick, cheap and easy; to learn more about the process visit gov.uk or get one of the following agencies to set up a scheme for you: Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), Charitable Giving, or Charities Trust.
